Another very important number when doing a numerology calculation is the life path number. Many numerologists actually say that it’s the most important number, and that it’s the one which best summarizes a preson’s life.

The life path number describes the major lessons learned and, pheraps even more importantly, the lessons  that are still to be learned. Those lessons are the focus of one person’s life; this life path number represents who you are when you are born, what you might become if you live to your full potential, and how to achieve that potential. Some interpretetions of the life path number may also include other relevant information to someone’s deepest aspirations or goals, and more.

The life path number is calculated by adding the digits of someone’s day, month and year of birth until they give a single digit result. For example, for someone born on 09/15/1984 it would be 0+9+1+5+1+9+8+4, which gives 37; 37 isn’t single digit, so we continue by adding 3 to 7, and we have 10, and then 1+0, which finally gives us 1. Again, the numbers 11 and 22 are somewhat special, and an exception to the rule.

In the previous post (scroll down to read it) you’ve been taught how to discover your expression number with a simple numerology calculation based on your own name. But what does this number actually means? Here are the most common interpretations associated with the various numbers:

1. This number is associated with leadership, individuality and indipendence. A person bearing this number has serious potential to become a leader in the business or political world, and will often display talent for management and organization. They are often charismatic leaders of men. A 1 will try to rely on himself only in most situations, and may become resentful or restless if someone else is in charge.
2. Harmony, cooperation and sensitivity. This number has an acute awarness of his own and others feelings. They are good judges of character, and find other people easy to understand. They must be careful to balance their great sensitivity or they will be easily emotionally hurt.

4. Order, hard-working, practical.  These people have the capability to go through hardships and struggles without giving up. 5. Freedom, creativity, variety. This number has the gift to be talented at almost anything: they have the freedom to choose any path and, if they are committed to it, they will be successful. They must learn to focus their energies, or may end up starting many projects and finishing none.
6. Responsible, supportive, hepful. Number 6 has an innate ability to comfort and help others, and has a great sense of responsibility. They seek their happiness in other people, but must learn to think about themselves too.
7. Spiritual, introspective, analytic. People with this number are capable to learn and study easily, and many involve themselves in scientific and/or philosophical studies. They may decide to search for a higher calling and are the most likely to dedicate themselves to a spiritual life.
8. Power, success, recognition. This is the number with the greates business talent, even more than 1. Money and material gains come very easy to them, and are well suite for administrative roles. The may have to learn that power and wealth are not everything in life.
9. Compassion, humanitarianism, generosity. This number has an innate love for other human beings. The difference with 6 is that they tend focus on humanity as a whole rather than on specific individuals. They must learn to balance their needs and ambitions with their calling to make the world a better place.

Many numerologists associate special meanings to the numbers 11 and 22.

11 is associated with teaching and an interest in spirituality: they are very similiar to 7, but tend to be more preoccupied with spreading knowledge and enlightenment to the whole world.

The most basic numerology calculation uses the letters in the name of an individual and reduces them to numbers. The letter A is 1, B is 2, and so forth until 9, then it starts with 1 again. Here is a simple reference table:

you add up all the numbers (first name, last name and middle name) and then you reduce the end result by adding all the digits together until you have a single digit number. For example, let’s say your name gives 39 as result: you add 3 and 9 together, and you get 12 as a result; it still isn’t a single digit number, so you go on by adding 1 and 2: the end result is 3. There are two exceptions, however: the numbers 11 and 22; if you end up with one of these numbers as a result, don’t add the digits together, because many numerologists consider them valid results. This number is called the numerology expression number, or sometimes the numerology destiny number.

The symbolic analysis of these results is the core of a numerological character analysis. There is much more in numerology than that of course, and many other factors (such as birthdate and birthplace) can give important numbers to use in numerology calculations, but this is a simple method that anyone can learn and apply easily.
